Broker Round Table: Jones Chicago
The Broker Round Table Series focuses on a different luxury apartment property each week. Luxury Living Chicago Realty’s proficient team of brokers has 84 years of combined experience in downtown Chicago’s luxury market. Since 2013, the team has rented 1500 apartments. The brokerage team provides best-in-class service for renters and buyers searching for a new home; each broker has a wealth of knowledge about every luxury property in downtown Chicago. The Broker Round Table series allows the team to play favorites and choose the best part of the week’s featured building.
Named after Chicago’s first Fire Warden, Benjamin Jones, this sleek property introduced modern luxury to a quiet corner of River North at 220 W. Illinois. Jones Chicago opened in early 2015 with high-end finishes, environmentally-friendly values, and great amenities. In addition to NEST Thermostats, these River North apartments offer: 9.8 foot concrete ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, and kitchens with quartz countertops and cabinet-fronted appliances. Residents at Jones Chicago enjoy a sun deck with pool and cabanas, fitness center, lounge, and dog amenities.
Here’s what each broker spotlighted as their favorite part of Jones Chicago:
Darrell Scott: Jones Chicago set a new standard for luxury finishes in Chicago with their glossy, white kitchen cabinetry, integrated appliances, and under cabinet lighting. The bright finishes make for a nice contrast against the dark, hardwood floors and loft-like concrete ceiling. It has an unfinished look, yet environmentally-conscious in the design, materials, and the use of Nest Thermostats. It’s a nice addition to the art’s and loft district of River North and could be defined as a ‘swanky building.’
Tristen Heimann: What I love about Jones is the overall progressively minimalistic design throughout the whole community. I call the style “Contemporary Rusticism” and it’s beautiful! From its stark clean-lined kitchen’s and exposed concrete ceilings, to all of it’s meticulously curated sustainable and reclaimed elements. The Portland based developer, Gerding Edlin, has truly brought some of the best elements of a Portlandia mindset to the Chicago culture.
Tamara Hirsch: My favorite thing about Jones Chicago is the super modern design with concrete ceilings, sleek cabinetry and floor-to-ceiling windows. Each unit has a balcony for some outdoor space and there’s not bad view from any unit or any floor.
Sam Kahn: I love the finishes in these apartments. They truly differs from any other rental building you see in Chicago. Whether it’s the concrete exposed ceilings or the all white sleek cabinetry, the Jones Chicago has it all.
Axel Cohen: The dog run is great! The idea of walking your dog downstairs, into the heated and ventilated dog run without even leaving the property, is amazing; especially in the Chicago winter. Along with the dog run, I love the real hardwood floors throughout the apartments. The fact that they use real hardwood floors, as opposed to the vinyl and laminate you mostly see, and that it runs throughout the entire apartment is a really nice touch and gives it more of a condo quality.
Jill Casey: One of the many things I like about Jones Chicago is their technologically savvy approach, including Nest thermostats in each unit.
Julie Markowitz: I love the open floor plans and the exposed concrete. These are great apartments for entertaining, with large islands and space to mingle in the living/dining space.
Elise Kaufmann: The resident lounge at Jones Chicago is one of my favorites in the city. The vibe feels like a River North bar, with big booths, a pool table, and stunning views. The gourmet chef kitchen is the perfect place to host friends for brunch or watch a game.
