Logan Square News: New Apartment Developments
Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood is undeniably thriving, especially along Milwaukee Avenue. From the development of more than 1,000 residential new units to the countless new bars and restaurants, Logan Square keeps making headlines as it increasingly becomes a destination for Chicagoans.
Logan Square recently received national recognition after Cushman & Wakefield labeled the neighborhood, “The Midwest Headquarters of Hip” on its 2016 Cool Streets Report. The number of bars, restaurants, and retail locations in the area has grown, with the additions of new spots like Surf, Paulie Gee’s, and The Bakery at Fat Rice.
People looking to relocate to the neighborhood will have a variety of brand-new Logan Square apartments to choose from, as construction on the first phase of developments wraps up. Four of the major developments are in varying degrees of completion, so here are the most recent updates:
L
2211 N. Milwaukee
120 Units
Spring 2016
Pre-leasing at L began this spring for late May and June move-in dates. Remaining availability is limited, although there are still a few opportunities to secure a two bedroom apartment or the unique co-living (rent by the room) option. Residents at the LEED Silver Certified building have full access to an expansive fitness center, bike kitchen, resident lounge, and outdoor amenity deck, which features a refurbished L train car, green space, gas grills, fire pit, and private dog run.
MODE
1950 N. Campbell
78 Units
Fall 2016
Just past the Western Blue Line L stop and Milwaukee Avenue, MODE is rising rapidly at 2501 W. Armitage. The contemporary building sits across the street from 90 Miles and is walking distance from Scofflaw and Parson’s Chicken and Fish. With sleek interior finishes and soaring ceilings, many of the units feature large private terraces. The boutique building also includes: a landscaped courtyard with connected amenity room, fitness center, package room, dog washing station, and a roof deck.
MiCA
2733 W. Belden & 2210 N Washtenaw
216Units
Fall 2016
The glassy 12 and 11-story apartment towers are an outlier in Logan Square, with a modern design seen more often in downtown neighborhoods. Another transit-oriented development, MiCA is steps from the Blue Line’s California stop. It will offer 98 parking space and 9,000 square feet of retail space. Each Logan Square apartment will feature luxury finishes, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing panoramic city views down Milwaukee Avenue.
Logan’s Crossing
2500 N. Milwaukee
240 Units
Logan Square’s Mega Mall indoor flea market will soon be demolished, with construction of Logan’s Crossing to begin this fall. The 240-unit building will be anchored by 115,000 square feet of commercial space, which is rumored to include a gym and grocery store. The development renderings feature a brick exterior, much like Chicago’s traditional loft and warehouse buildings.
