Plan Your Sunday At These Spots for New Brunch in Chicago
With record-breaking freezing temperatures this week and winter stretching ahead of us, it feels like a good time to focus on something positive in the city—brunch. Specifically, some of the best new brunch places in Chicago. Let’s look at the details for a few brunches around the Windy City, so you can make weekend plans to treat yourself.
Big Star, Lakeview
All good Chicagoans have paid their dues waiting for a seat on the Big Star patio in Wicker Park. But have you visited the new location in Wrigleyville? Not only does the Lakeview location offer brunch, but you can also make a reservation (available for groups between 2-6 people and not on Cubs game days). At 3640 N. Clark, the Big Star brunch menu offers huevos rancheros, chorizo quesadillas, and delicious cocktails.
Lakeview Apartments Recommendation: Big Star and baseball fans should check out Viridian on Sheridan, a boutique luxury building now leasing at 734 W. Sheridan.
Walton Street Kitchen + Bar, Gold Coast
Before an afternoon of shopping along Oak Street, stop by Walton Street Kitchen + Bar and indulge in their mouth-watering pastry flight, blueberry pancakes, or tasso ham Benedict. From the owners of Coda di Volpe and Gemini, Ryan and Anna O’Donnell, the bistro opened last fall to positive reviews at 912 N. State.
Brothers & Sisters, West Town
This all-day cafe, market, and bottle shop opened in December at 2125 W. Chicago Avenue, in the former Columbia Furniture storefront. Brothers & Sisters’ cozy space offers many options: pick up some cheese and smoked meats for your charcuterie board, buy beer or wine to go, or sit down for a meal at the bar or communal table. The weekend brunch menu offer Midwestern comfort foods and caffeinated from Ruby Coffee Roasters.
BLVD, West Loop
You’ll need to plan ahead a bit for brunch at BLVD, which is only offered on the second Sunday of every month, but it will be worth it. With a vintage Hollywood glam vibe, BLVD’s impressive brunch features bottomless mimosas, a live DJ, and dancers. At 817 W. Lake, the family-style brunch menu is $55 per person and includes beignets, almond croissants, bacon, potatoes au gratin, and yogurt parfait for the table, plus your choice of three entree selections.
West Loop Apartments Recommendation: A few blocks south of BLVD, 727 West Madison also recently opened its doors. The tallest building west of the Kennedy, these brand-new apartment feature high-end finishes, stunning city views, and unbelievable amenities, all within walking distance of Restaurant Row.
